19-year old Lions player Reuben William was caught this morning by a random breath test in Queensland.

William has played 3 senior games for the club but hasn't featured so far in 2017.

The club released the following statement this afternoon:

Brisbane Lions Statement - Reuben William

The Brisbane Lions were today informed by Reuben William that he failed a random breath test this morning while on a scheduled day off for the playing group.

William informed General Manager of Football, David Noble, of the incident shortly after it occurred.

The 19-year-old, driving on a probationary license, was alone in the car when he recorded an alcohol reading of 0.031. Queensland law requires a probationary license holder to have a 0.00 alcohol reading.

William will be required to appear in court in the coming weeks.

The Club will make no further comment at this time.
