Western Sydney Wanderers Player Charged With Assault

Western Sydney Wanderers midfielder Kearyn Baccus has been charged with assault after an altercation at Sydney Airport earlier this month.

Baccus was charged with common assault on Wednesday after allegedly punching a man in an argument over a parking spot on January 5.

It’s possible more charges will follow.

"About 1pm on Thursday, January 5, a verbal altercation occurred between a 25-year-old man and a 49-year-old man on Duncan Street, Arncliffe, resulting in the younger man punching the older man in the chest," a NSW spokeswoman said on Wednesday night.

"The 25-year-old man attended St George Police Station about 2pm today and was charged with common assault."

The Wanderers responded to the charges today.

“The Western Sydney Wanderers advise that they are aware of a police matter involving Kearyn Baccus,” the club said in a statement.

“The club has spoken to the player with regards to the incident and as the matter has been referred to the court system the club will not be making any further comment.

“The player will be available for selection for this weekend’s match.”

The Wanderers play Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night.
