Cairns will become one of only four locations around the world to host the premiere Mountain Biking event, Crankworx, from the 5th - 9th of October 2022.
Over 1200 riders are expected to take part and, with them, huge crowds of spectators which will add a much needed post-Covid boost to our local region's economy.
Rosie Douglas, General Manager-Partnerships and Events at Tourism Tropical North Queensland, has lauded the work done behind the scenes to get the event over the line, particularly by the Cairns Regional Council.
"The Cairns Regional Council have been incredible," Ms. Douglas said.
"Not only with their support financially for the event, but they're working very closely with the guys at the Smithfield track to make sure that what ever land is Council land, it is ready for the event."
