Channel 9 ended over 40 years of brilliant work covering cricket earlier this year, with the rights being awarded to Channel 7’s joint bid with Foxtel.

The rights change ended an association between sport and TV channel that defined Australian sporting culture for decades, with 9’s coverage the soundtrack of the summer for many Aussie families.

To commemorate Channel 9’s contribution, Cricket Australia put together a tribute video showing off the most memorable moments from their coverage.

The first ball of World Series Cricket, the underarm ball, Shane Warne’s Ashes hat trick, Michael Bevan’s last ball four in Sydney, Murali being no-balled for chucking and Steve Waugh’s last-ball Ashes ton at the SCG via several iterations of Tony Greig’s Weather Watch, it’s all here:

Thanks for the memories, Channel 9.
