A software glitch with the potential security risk has been reportedly discovered in the latest version of Apple macOS.

According to Pedestrian, typing “root” and pressing “enter” multiple times will actually bypass the need for a password at the login screen of a mac running High Sierra — 10.13.1.

The glitch is said to also create a “root” account, in turn opening up all kinds of security risks for your computer to be targeted by unsavoury types.

The issue was originally flagged on social media by Turkish software developer Lemi Orhan Ergin, who alerted Apple in a tweet.

No doubt a speedy update from Apple on macOS will aim to address the bug.
