It was supposed to be all about the crowd and colour of a sold out Oil Search Stadium in Port Moresby.
However, PNG's opening World Cup game against Wales has been hampered by an alleged biting incident.
As the game approached the 26th minute mark, after a seemingly innocuous tackle Wales prop Ben Evans has alleged a PNG player bit him.
Referee Ben Cummins put the incident on report despite not knowing which player the allegation was directed towards.
