Wagga has lost its chance to host a Sheffield Shield or Futures League cricket match this season with Council unable to deliver a pitch of the required standard in time for the proposed match dates.
A shortfall of internal expertise has been blamed, with the news following a wicket inspection at Robertson Oval this week.
The matches will be played at another venue.
Wagga City Council General Manager Peter Thompason says Council will continue to pursue opportunities with Cricket NSW and is confident of achieving that in the longer term.
