The WA Mixed Ultimate Championships will be held in Bunbury for the first time in September.

Ultimate (frisbee) is a unique team sport that uses a flying disc and combines elements of soccer, netball and American football.

On the weekend of the 8 and 9 of September, mixed gender Ultimate clubs from across the State will be travelling to Hay Park in Bunbury to compete in the Championships.

This event is the qualifying event for the Australian Mixed Ultimate Championships. More than 12 clubs will compete, with the top two teams qualifying for the national competition in October.

The event will be hosted by the local Bunbury Ultimate Club and sponsored by the City of Bunbury.

“On behalf of the Bunbury City Council I welcome all competitors and their families to Bunbury and encourage them to explore and experience this wonderful region of ours,” Mayor Gary Brennan said.

“We are honoured to have such a unique sporting event taking place on our doorstep and I know the community will also be excited to witness these elite athletes battle it out at Hay Park.”

The event expects to bring more than 220 competitors and officials travelling from Perth, Mandurah, Esperance, Busselton, Bunbury. At least 95 per cent of competitors will be attending from outside of Bunbury.
