Victoria has recorded more cases in the past 24 hours than New South Wales did yesterday.
The State is on track to hit the 80 percent first-dose vaccination rate on Tuesday, and with that comes extra freedoms.
From 11.59 pm on Tuesday, residents will be allowed to play contactless sport, including golf and tennis, and the 10km travel limit will be extended to 15km.
Premier Daniel Andrews told the ABC they are modest changes, but it is the beginning of the end.
“Today is a very significant day this roadmap is about hope and being positive, Victorians and Australian’s are coming forward and getting vaccinated that means that lockdowns will end. We will be free, we will be open, we will normalise this, it’s not about endless suppression.”
The slight easing of restrictions will come as new data shows vaccination rates are resulting in fewer hospital admissions than infection rates last year.
