Ahead of their blockbuster clash with Sydney at the MCG this Friday night, Melbourne have some big-name injury clouds that everyone will be keeping an eye on.

At Demons training this morning, reporter Ben Guthrie gave some updates on the key players.

Jesse Hogan, who hasn't played since Round 7 following his surgery for testicular cancer, was reported to move well and is a good chance to play.

However, the news for forwards Jack Watts and Jeff Garlett is much more speculative.

Garlett only managed laps this morning and is considered in doubt given his hamstring tightness from the Eagles game.

Watts was unable to train at all and would also be considered a long-shot at this stage.

Christian Salem has already been ruled out for this weekend, but co-captain Jack Viney is fully recovered from a shoulder injury last weekend and will play the Swans.
