The Victorian Bushrangers have sent out an injury update on young wicketkeeper Sam Harper who copped a bat to the head whilst playing against South Australia today.

Play at Adelaide Oval stopped for over 90 minutes after Harper got hit when Jake Lehmann followed through on a pull shot and accidentally hit him.

At one stage it looked like the match would be called off, but Harper’s injuries turned out to be not as severe as feared.

“He (Harper) was examined at Adelaide Oval by medical staff before being transferred to hospital for further assessment and treatment,” the Bushrangers said in a statement.

“Harper underwent scans this afternoon which have not identified any bleeding or bone damage, but he will remain in hospital overnight for observation.”

Harper has been ruled out of the rest of the match and will be replaced by Seb Gotch who will act as a substitute fielder.
