NSW Fire and Rescue crews from Sawtell were kept busy over the weekend with two separate car crashes.

NSW Fire and Rescue crews were called to a crash on Sawtell Road on Saturday night.

Around 10pm, it's understood that a car swerved to avoid a cat running onto the road, causing the vehicle to hit a stationary vehicle.

While the cat was not injured, both vehicles didn't come off quite as well.

In a separate crash, around 4:30pm on Sunday afternoon emergency crews responded to a two car head-on crash on Pine Creek Way at Bonville, just prior to the roundabout on the Lyons Road overpass.

RFS, SES and NSW Police assisted onsite, with the injured patients transported to Coffs Harbour Base Hospital for further treatment.

The road was reopened once both vehicles were removed.
