Tropical Cyclone Owen Forecasted To Redevelop Through The Week

Weather update!

10 December 2018

Tropical cyclone Owen is the first of the 2018-19 tropical cyclone season to hit Queensland.

The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) reported that Owen has recently been downgraded to a topical low, after peaking at category 1 intensity and remaining over open waters, well off the eat coast of Queensland.

Local surfers were spotted taking advantage of the waves off Nielson Park over the weekend as the weather warning went out for coastal waters. You can see live surf conditions and forecasts for Elliot Heads at the Coastal Watch website to check in on how the cyclone could continue to affect our coastal waters.

Ex-Tropical Cyclone Owen is forecasted to move over the Gulf of Carpentaria tomorrow, with potential to redevelop into a tropical cyclone on Wednesday, although it's too early to tell the exact path of the redeveloped cyclone as of yet.
