Cameron Smith became just the fifth player to join the elusive 2000 club about an hour ago, and his Maroons teammate Johnathan Thurston has just joined him.
For Thurston, the opportunity to kick for the record books came after 20 minutes of play, when the Cowboys posted their first points courtesy of a Coen Hess try.
"There's not enough words to describe what Johnathan Thurston can do on a footy field," Triple M's Gorden Tallis said during the call.
