Thousands of NAB employees will lose their jobs in the next three years, following the announcement of a $1.5 billion restructure.

It is understood that 6000 jobs will be cut, with the rise of digital transactions part of the reason for the change.

Approximately 2000 jobs will be created in these new digital divisions.

The bank revealed a net year profit of $5.3 billion.

Some branches are expected to close, with new branches to open in areas such as western Sydney.
