A US Powerball that has a jackpot expected to be over $820 million is set to be drawn this Thursday - and Australians are able to get involved.

The mammoth prize will be redrawn on Sunday night if there is no winner by the start of the weekend which would take the total beyond $1 billion; the second-largest in history.

The Powerball is only available to US residents, but through Northern Territory-based betting company LottoLand, Aussies are able to 'bet' on the outcome of the lottery without actually entering it.

If users are able to pick the winning 6 numbers, LottoLand will pay the user the same amount of money they otherwise would have won.
