Here's the details

21 February 2019

Triple M Townsville

If you were heading to the beach to dip your toes in and get that gritty sand under your feet, you'll have to wait.

This afternoon two of Townsville's most popular beach spots are closed for contamination testing.

Townsville City Council has closed some beaches in the city due to potential contamination detected during the king tide.

Beaches currently closed for resampling are:

  • The Strand (Tobruk end)
  • Pallarenda
  • Dog Beach (at the end of Bentwell Road)

These beaches will remain closed until they have been retested and are safe for public use.

All recovery information is available through the Emergency Management Dashboard at disaster.townsville.qld.gov.au.
