There has been significant rainfall along the NSW Coast, especially in the Mid-North Coast with over 100 millimetres of rainfall being recorded in the past 24 hours to 9 am this morning.
The low-pressure trough off the central and northern New South Wales coast is expected to continue to bring significant rainfall to the Central Coast, Mid-North Coast and Northern Rivers for the remainder of Saturday and into Sunday.
This rainfall coupled with wet catchment conditions has the potential to cause flooding to develop in the following river valleys over the weekend:
1. Macleay - minor flooding
2. Manning - minor flooding
3. Karuah - minor flooding
Flood Warnings are current for the Orara River, Bellinger River, Hastings River, Williams River and Coffs Creek
The forecast is a heads up – this is not a Flood Warning. Predictions for catchments along the Mid North Coast indicate rain may be heavy enough to cause localised flooding in low-lying areas, as well as causing tributary creeks to break their banks.
Farmers are advised to monitor the weather and be ready to move their livestock, pumps and other equipment away from rising waters
Oyster Lease Operators are advised to monitor the river for possible rises and be ready to move equipment
If this weather system intensifies, flooding could develop in the following catchments: Macleay, Manning and Karuah.
If so, the Bureau will issue Flood Warnings along with the State Emergency Service who will
release Flood Bulletins to tell you about the situation and what you should do to protect
your family and property. Please listen carefully to these Bulletins
