The first player movement of the 2017 trade season has happened, with Brisbane declining to match Port Adelaide’s salary offer to Tom Rockliff.

Former Lions captain Rockliff was a restricted free agent at the end of this year, meaning that the Lions had first right of refusal on any contract offered him.

But they decided against matching Port’s contract, meaning Rockliff is officially a Power player.

Rockliff played 154 games for the Lions in nine seasons, kicking 87 goals and racking up 68 Brownlow votes.

He was captain for 2015-16, won two best and fairest and was All-Australian in 2014.

Brisbane’s are set to receive pick 18 in compensation.
