Tensions high as Bellingen trees will be removed

Camphor laurels to be chopped Sunday

28 April 2017

Bellingen residents have begun emotional farewell to their camphor laurel trees, as Council's set to take an axe to the evergreens on Sunday.

Road and parking closures will be in place on the day.

The work is part of Council’s Master Plan for the main street, as it says they’ve got to go, to improve drainage and accessibility for the disabled.

It's understood some locals will take to Church Street on Saturday, to protest their removal.
