Police have arrested and charged a 17 year old Griffith boy, who allegedly led officers on a 57 kilometre pursuit in a stolen vehicle.

Officers say they were called out to Ashmont shortly after 8pm Saturday with reports of a stolen car and spotted the red Suzuki four wheel drive on Blakemore Street.

When they tried to pull it over, the driver allegedly sped off, sparking the pursuit which turned out onto the Sturt Highway, and continued until he pulled over just short of the Lockhart Road intersection.

He’s been charged with take and drive a conveyance, Skye’s Law, driving a vehicle on the road despite never having held a license, and several outstanding warrants.
