Gold Coast defender Steven May has been found not guilty of making deliberate contact with an umpire.

The charge was downgraded from intentional to careless, meaning May’s sanction is a $1000 fine.

May’s lawyers argued that the contact was completely accidental, and the tribunal agreed.

May is now free to play against Port Adelaide in Shanghai this weekend.
