Steve Smith just played a brilliant captain’s knock against India in Pune, bringing up his 18th Test ton in bowler-friendly conditions.

Smith pushed Ravi Jadeja to mid-off to bring up his ton off 187 balls in the 71st over, making his 10th century as captain in just 21 matches

It’s also his fifth century against India from seven matches at an average of 88.83 — and his fifth in a row.

Smith had a lot of luck on his way to the milestone, being dropped three teams and not given out when he was plum LBW.

India had no DRS referrals left to overturn the decision.

Remarkably, it’s only the second time in his Test career that Smith has made it to triple figures the  second innings of a match.

And his record as captain is second only to the best of all time:

Smith has now departed for 109 off 202 balls, out LBW to Jadeja in the 75th over.

Surely one of his best ever knocks.
