A nationwide technical glitch forced Woolworths to halt trading this afternoon, with shutters coming down on stores across Australia.
Customers took to social media to report the issue, revealing that they had been forced to abandon their shopping.
At 4.50pm, a Woolworths spokesperson confirmed via Twitter that their systems were back online.
"We can confirm that an IT issue impacted registers in our supermarkets for a short period of time this afternoon," they said.
"The registers are now back online in all our stores."
