Sega are following in Nintendo’s mini footsteps and releasing a miniature version of their flagship console, the Mega Drive.

Sega announced the Mega Drive Mini in Japan today to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the iconic system.

At present the console is only slated for release in Japan, although it’s fair to say it will most likely make the switch to the west.

There is also scant information about what games will be on the system, but it’s hard to imagine there won’t be a glut of Sonic games amongst them.

If you can speak Japanese, you can watch the announcement here.
