Scott McLaughlin's chances of winning at Bathurst ended early due to an engine problem.
But they didn't bring an end to his sense of humour.
McLaughlin's car conked out on lap 75 with co-driver Alex Premat behind the wheel, 24 hours after McLaughlin set the fastest lap ever seen at Bathurst.
"(Premat) said he lost oil pressure," he said.
"I think we’re pretty done, unfortunately...to all our fans, it’s tough but we still have one car so we’ll be cheering on 'Fabs' (Fabian Coulthard) to the end."
He still managed to get a laugh out of it on Twitter after the news broke, saying Premat probably needs a beer and an umbrella while stuck on top of the mountain.
He was pretty keen to find out where Premat was full stop.
