Riverina crime stats mostly positive

Latest numbers show downward trends

The latest report from the Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research has delivered mostly good news for the Riverina, th a number of major crime categories trending down in the 24 months to September.

The region as a whole saw a 14% drop in domestic violence related assaults, and a 12% reduction in theft from dwellings.

In Wagga, steal from motor vehicles were down 15%, and dwellings down 16%, and common assault was down 46% in Junee.

However in Snowy Valleys, stealing from cars increased 159%, and Narrandera saw a 125% increase in non-dwelling break and enters.
