The pitch disaster at the Gabba just keeps getting worse...

Newscorp journalist Andrew Hamilton has claimed that sources from the Brisbane Lions "cannot confirm" that their Round 2 game against Essendon will be played at home.

The situation is farcical for the club, who found out today that the surface of their home ground is not suitable for the AFLW Grand Final this Saturday.

The decision will come down to Stadiums Queensland, who want more pitch inspections closer to the date to test the Gabba's availability.

The Gabba is still recovering from an Adele concert, with curators claiming that playing football on the damaged pitch could hamper the ground's ability to host the Ashes in November.
