Canberra Raiders utility Kurt Baptiste has undergone surgery today on an Achilles injury sustained at training on Wednesday afternoon.
"Baptiste ruptured his left Achilles during a conditioning session at Raiders HQ, with Baptiste to be assessed post-surgery to get a better understanding on how long he will be on the sideline," read a club statement.
"The 25 year old recently re-signed with the club for a further two seasons and was part of the Raiders 17 who made their way to the Preliminary final in 2016."
Baptiste was a handy back-up to first-choice hooker Josh Hodgson last season. He's a workhorse who can do a job for Ricky Stuart off the bench. He also filled in admirably for Hodgson when he was injured late last season.
