The Blackwood Regatta is back!

Winners are grinners at The Blackwood Regatta, Augusta River Festival 2018.

It's the race that stops the nation... well, at least Augusta.

That's right - start hording your milk cartons and stashing your beer cans, because the annual Blackwood Regatta is hitting our waterways in 2019.

As the star of the Augusta River Festival, the "boat" race will see makeshift water crafts made of aluminium cans and plastic bottles race to the finish line down Augusta River.

With a massive $2,000 prize pool for the quickest and most creative vessel - a flurry of crowds is expected once again along the banks of the river foreshore on Sunday, March 3.

Registrations for the Blackwood Regatta are still open here.

Alongside the boating bonanza, the one day festival hosts a range of activities including entertainment, kids amusements and artisan market stalls to bring families and locals to the Augusta River region.

More than five thousand attendees are expected to the event this year - a chance to showcase some of the regions finest food, drink and produce on offer across 70 local and regional market stalls.

Visitors can join a show-stopping line up of live music with ARIA-nominated Mama Kin Spender, Caribbean style band Nicky Bomba’s Bustamento, the folk sensations of The Tommyhawks, the rhythmic blues of Applejack & Moonshine and internationally renowned blues and roots performer Katie J White all hitting the stage.

From a vintage corner and classic car display to community education groups and local dance and circus schools - this popular event has something for everyone.

The action-packed day will end in a spectacular display of fireworks from 9pm to light up the Augusta River.

The Sun Smart Augusta River Festival is held at the Blackwood River Augusta foreshore from 9am Sunday March 3rd. Entry is just $5.
