Nothing gets between an Aussie and a beer, not even catastrophic flooding.

It’s in this spirit that residents of Euramo in northern Queensland have been finding a way to turn up to their local pub despite the rising waters — in boats.

Others in the area are making the best of the situation in their own way:

Flood waters are receding in the worst hit parts of North Queensland, with the town of Ingham reaching a peak of 14.7 metres last night.

More than 200 homes were flooded in the storms, and the Insurance Council of Australia has declared the rains, floods and storms a catastrophe.
