The Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was involved in a rescue on Saturday when they were call out after a parachutist crash-landed north west of Toowoomba.

The rescue chopper was deployed to the Somerset region just after 6pm.  It's believed the man's parachute canopy failed as he was approaching the ground, descending rapidly, before landing heavily.

The man aged in his thirties sustained suspected spinal injuries and was transported to the Princess Alexander Hospital in Brisbane.
