Operation Rapid Shows Road Safety Concerns

A recent Road Policing Operation has revealed that the message of speeding, drink driving, and mobile phone use still isn’t getting through to all.

Operation Rapid was conducted by the Traffic & Highway Patrol between Thursday 5 July and Monday 9 July 2018.

Sixteen Traffic & Highway Patrol officers on 13 bikes and 3 vehicles were deployed to the Coffs Clarence Police District to reduce road trauma.

Over the 5 days, officers conducted 604 RBT’s, and detected various traffic infringements.

  • 214 motorists were detected exceeding the speeding limit.
  • 17 mobile phone offences.
  • 18 restraint (seat belt) offences.
  • 5 unregistered/uninsured vehicle offences.
  • 43 other offences.

In addition, officers also issued charged for Unlicenced driver (never held a licence), Mid and High range drink drive (PCA), Outstanding arrest (bench) warrant, and Drive whilst licence disqualified.
