These are some serious dollars.

Dustin Martin has turned down the lure of a move to North Melbourne, signing a seven-year deal to remain with Richmond.

All reports suggest it was one hell of a lure.

Martin reportedly re-signed with Richmond until the end of 2024 for around $1.2m to $1.3m a season, which would put his total contract at about $9m.

It's the biggest contract in Richmond history.

Multiple sources have reported the size of North Melbourne’s offer to be even larger, at around the $1.5 million a season mark over the same duration of time.

It would have all added up to a contract worth about $10.5m over its entirety.

That would have meant Martin would have had the largest playing contract in history.

The North Melbourne offer would have eclipsed the mega-deal Lance Franklin accepted to move from Hawthorn to Sydney, which was $10m across nine seasons.

Gary Ablett also accepted big bucks to move to Gold Coast - at the time reported to be around $9m across five years - which was more money per year, but over a shorter term.

It beats Tom Boyd, too: he was recruited by the Dogs on a seven-year, $7m deal.

Decent pay day either way.
