Toowoomba Hospital's Seventh Theatre

23 July 2017

Work on the new $2.6 million operating theatre at the Toowoomba Hospital commenced this week.

The project is being labelled a priority for the region to meet the expected growing demand on surgical needs.

Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service's Dr Paul Clayton said over 9,000 surgeries were performed at the hospital in the last financial year.

The new multi-million dollar project will include construction of a new theatre, post-op recovery area and storage facilities.

There will also be a state-of-the-art fit out.  This includes equipment to perform laser surgery.

It's expected to be finished and ready to open by November.
