Essendon key defender Michael Hurley has gone off injured in the Bombers’ intra-club game today.

Hurley walked off the ground with a trainer holding his left wrist early in the second quarter of the game.

He will not return to the match.

Hurley had surgery on his wrist and hip in the off-season, but it’s unclear whether this new injury is related.

He played 21 games for the Bombers in 2017, averaging over 25 touches a game.

Hurley led the league in rebound 50s and was third for intercepts per game last year, and was selected to the All-Australian team.
