Queenslanders' hearts all around the country sank when news filtered through Billy Slater wouldn't take part in Origin 1.
Slater was ruled out with a hamstring injury after soreness following an opposed sessions against the Queensland U/18's side on Sunday.
Attention from Slater absence quickly turned to who would replace the 29-game Origin veteran.
