Man in court over Howlong machete attack

A 47-year-old man's been refused bail to front court today, charged after an alleged machete attack in Howlong.

Emergency services were called to a house on Clarke Street about 12:00am today, following reports that a man had been assaulted.

Officers were told the man was woken by a knock on his front door, and when he answered it, he was assaulted by another man who then fled the scene.

He was taken to Albury Base Hospital in a stable condition, with lacerations to his right hand.

Police arrested a male a short distance away and he was taken to Albury Police Station.

He's up against aggravated break and enter, reckless wounding and drug supply offences.
