A driver has been picked up for failing to wear a seatbelt and using a phone while driving - all so he could send his girlfriend an emoji.
Merseyside Police in the UK decided to make an example of the driver, who admitted that the reason he was breaking the law was because he was "just putting a laughing emoji to my girlfriend".
The police have taken to Twitter with a tongue-in-cheek response, posting the following.
This comes as a timely reminder for Aussie drivers that double demerits are in place ahead of the long weekend.
