Police have charged two people following an incident that took place in Mitchell on Friday afternoon.
Around 2.40pm, a 39-year-old man and a 42-year-old man and woman, who are all known to each other, became involved in a verbal dispute outside a hotel on Cambridge Street.
Police will allege the pair struck the 39-year-old man with a baseball bat multiple times before proceeding to punch and kick him.
The man was transported to the Toowoomba Hospital for treatment to his injuries including a fractured hip.
The offenders were located by police a short time later at a Margaret Street residence.
A 42-year-old Mitchell man and a 42-year-old Mitchell woman have been charged with one count each of grievous bodily harm and also on a ‘going armed so as to cause fear’ charge.
The man appeared at the Mitchell Magistrates Court on Saturday, February 2, the woman will front court today.
