Lewis Hamilton has smashed the lap record at Albert Park with a thrilling finish to Saturday's qualifying.
Less than six one hundredths of a second separated the top three of Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen until the final lap.
That was where Hamilton weaved his magic, setting a lap record and ensuring he'd start in pole position once again.
Daniel Ricciardo finished fifth, which will be downgraded to eighth after his three-position penalty.
