Former St Kilda and Western Bulldogs player Koby Stevens has opened up on how the use of medicinal cannabis has helped treat his concussion issues.

Stevens was forced into retirement half way through last year after multiple head knocks and found himself still getting headaches post retirement.

“Often I couldn’t sleep for days. I got put on a lot of medication to help my headaches and none of that helped and at times made it worse,” Stevens told the Herald Sun.

“Within two days of starting that (medicinal cannabis) treatment my headaches were gone and I was clear so it’s pretty amazing, powerful stuff.”

He also labelled Jonathan Brown's comments about Paddy McCartin’s “resilience to get through hits” as “a joke”.
