The Western Bulldogs' appeal to get Katie Brennan allowed to play in Saturday's AFLW Grand Final has failed.

Brennan was suspended for a match after a sling tackle on Melbourne's Harriet Cordner.

The Dogs refused to accept the penalty and took the matter to the tribunal.

The tribunal not only upheld the original ban but increased it two matches.

The Dogs decided to take the matter further only to be rebuked by the appeals board.

Brennan will now miss both the grand final and round 1 of the 2019 season.
