January Was Australia's Hottest Month On Record

Bloody hot.

1 February 2019

January 2019 has been Australia’s hottest month since records began, the Bureau of Meteorology says.

Over Australia the month has the highest minimum, maximum and mean temperatures – following from the hottest December on record.

For the first time, the mean temperature for Australia was over 30C.

The bureau said the hot weather was driven by a few factors – including heatwave conditions, a high pressure system in the Tasman sea as well as a general warming trend.

They predict the next three months will also be warmer than average for most of Australia.
