Ikon Park Crowd Reaches Capacity For First Ever AFLW Match

BREAKING.

3 February 2017

Ikon Park has reached capacity for the first ever AFLW match.

The crowd reportedly reached capacity midway through the first quarter of the clash between Carlton and Collingwood.

The gates were closed after a police order.

"The CEO of the league (Gillon McLachlan) has just announced that the gates have been officially closed," Neroli Meadows said on the boundary for Triple M.

People currently in the venue have apparently been forced to stand in the walkways due to the overwhelming crowd.

The ground seats approximately 20,000 supporters.

Yarra Trams added extra tram services along the 19 route that serves Ikon Park, but even then trams were packed as they made their way there form the city.

Carlton led Collingwood 3.0 (18) to 1.2 (8) at quarter time.
