A big change is coming which will make splitting bills with friends a hell of a lot easier.
It has been announced that a new payment system is 'on track' to be able to deliver real-time bank transfers and the ability to get rid of BSB numbers as soon as Australia Day.
This means that there will no longer be a several-day lag when transfers are made between customers of different banks.
The reason for the delay in its implementation until next year is to ensure that there is minimal disruption to the busy period over the Christmas break, which results in a large number of retail payments processed through December and January sales.
