Triple M Saturday NRL was joined by guest host Bryan Fletcher, who took the chance to reminisce with former Blues teammate Ryan Girdler about the glory days for the Blues.
A classic yarn soon came up - captured on video by our own Wendell Sailor - regarding a pre-game hype speech from then Premier Bob Carr.
"We were ready to roll and then Bob Carr came and spoke for 45 minutes," Fletch said.
"I fell asleep and just slid down the back of my chair.
"I love Bob Carr, but it was the worst motivational speech in the history of rugby league."
Girds then chimed in with a real zinger to conclude the anecdote.
"Bob Carr got to the finish of his speech after 45 minutes of pulling the air out of everyone's tyres," Girds said.
"He put his fist up and was real gladiatorial and said 'let's go and give it to these Victorians!'"
