Heatwave Increases Fire Risk

Think first

23 July 2017

We have had a long hot dry spell and it isn’t going to ease up any time soon.

Along with all the heat and dryness comes the increased risk of fires.

The Rural Fire Service is urging residents and landholders to be vigilant and to reconsider plans for fires due to our extreme conditions.

While the fire service is concerned about people being affected by the heat, they also want to express how easy it is for house fires to start.

If you are welding or grinding you are asked to take extra precautions and keep a bucket of water handy.

While landholders are being urged to hold off on burns until the weather breaks.

Call 000 if you spot a fire.
