A fiery scratch match between North Heidelberg and the Northern Blues was called off last night after an old-fashioned biff broke out.

Triple M’s Jay-Z Clark reported on Dead Set Legends that the contest got “fiery, aggressive and physical” after a Northern Blues player laid a “heavy tackle” in the second quarter.

The coaches of the two teams — AFL games record holder Boomer Harvey and former Pies ruckman Josh Fraser — mutually decided to call the game off due to safety concerns.

“My understanding is that it did get quite heated,” former St Kilda great Joey Montagna said.

“They just decided it’s better to make sure it didn’t escalate any further.”
