Troubled Fremantle recruit Harley Bennell very nearly made his return to footy today.
Bennell was named in the reserves for Freo’s WAFL affiliate Peel Thunder today, but was withdrawn late.
The club expect him to play next week.
Being listed to play this week adds to his eligibility to play WAFL finals, according to Channel 7 journo Ryan Daniels.
Bennell hasn’t played an AFL game since round 22 2015 against Port Adelaide for Gold Coast.
He made the switch to Fremantle in the ensuing off-season and has been unable to feature for his new club.
Peel’s senior side take on East Perth at Leederville Oval next week.
